WORKSHOP ON SLIDE MASTERY CRAFTING IMPACTFUL PRESENTATION
Department of Computer Applications conducted a hands-on workshop 'Slide Mastery' on 04-09-24 Wednesday under the YEC club. The session was handled by Mr. Anfas and Mr. Muflih of final year BCA. The benefits was gained by the second year students of BCA department. The session was started with an introduction by Ms.Murshida.C YEC club coordinator and supported by Mr.Ubaid N. The session start by covering the basic concepts of the application, including its user interface and essential tools. Next discuss effective slide design principles and advanced techniques, such as animations and multimedia integration, to enhance presentations. Participants will then engage in a hands-on practice session to apply these skills, followed by a feedback discussion to share insights and challenges. The session will conclude with a vote of thanks, expressing our gratitude to everyone for their participation and contributions.
2. SPARK IT-Keyboard to knowledge(An extension program initiated to impart computer literacy to our neighbourhood)
The Department of Computer Applications organized a 6-day workshop aimed at enhancing computer literacy among women from the Marakkara and Ponmala panchayats. Held in the computer lab of Grace Valley College of Arts and Science, the workshop took place from September 24 to 28 2024 with an additional session on September 30 ,2024. This initiative reflects a commitment to empowering the community through digital skills development.
DAY 1
24 Sep 2024
The program commenced with an inaugural session at 10:30 AM in the college's computer lab, featuring a prayer led by the students. Seetha Lakshmi, Head of the Department of Computer Applications, delivered the welcome address, followed by a keynote speech from Dr. CP Ayoob Keyi, Principal of Grace Valley Arts and Science College. The event was officially inaugurated by MP Muhammed Faizal Wafy, Manager of Grace Valley Education Institute. Felicitations were offered by E.K. Abdul Kader Haji, Secretary of Grace Valley Institute, Muhammed Rishad, IQAC Coordinator and Kadakkan Shoukath Ali, Member of Ponmala Panchayat. The session concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Shahul Hameed, representative of the 5th semester BCA class. The second session, titled "Introduction to Computers," began at 11:00 AM and was facilitated by Mufeeda A and Haseeb PT, both of whom are 5th semester BCA students. The session addressed the history and fundamentals of computers, differentiating between hardware and software, as well as outlining the basic components of a computer system. Participants engaged in hands-on practice with File Explorer, learning to create and modify files and folders. This informative session concluded at 1:00 PM.
DAY 2

On the second day, the session titled "Word Wizardry: Introduction to MS Word" commenced at 11:00 AM, led by Sumayya Sherin AV, 5th semester BCA student. This session aimed to introduce participants to the basic functionalities of Microsoft Word. Sumayya covered essential topics including document creation, formatting techniques, and the significance of documents in today's digital landscape. Attendees engaged in hands-on practice applying their knowledge to create documents. The session concluded at 1:00 PM.
DAY 3 - 5

Days 3 to 5 were dedicated entirely to MS Excel, recognized for its utility compared to other Microsoft applications. The session, titled "Excel 101," was conducted by Muhammed Fawaz O, 5th semester BCA student. Key topics covered included an introduction to spreadsheets, the fundamentals of Microsoft Excel, and techniques for creating and formatting spreadsheets and tables. The session also addressed functions and formulas along with a comprehensive overview of the tools available in the Home, Insert, and Page Layout bars in Excel. Participants engaged in hands-on practice to create spreadsheets and workbooks, enhancing their practical skills.

The first session, titled "Introduction to PowerPoint & Guide to AI," commenced at 11:00 AM and was conducted by Haseeb PT, 5th semester BCA student. The session focused on the significance and fundamentals of PowerPoint, highlighting the distinctions between presentations and documents as well as exploring animations, transitions, and other notable features of the software. Haseeb also introduced various AI chatbots including Gemini, ChatGPT, and Meta, discussing their relevance in today's world and their potential future applications. Additionally he presented Gamma AI, a tool for creating presentations and documents further emphasizing the integration of AI in modern workflows.
The certificate distribution session commenced at 12:30 PM, featuring a welcome address by Seetha Lakshmi R, Head of the Department of Computer Applications. The keynote address was delivered by MP Muhammed Faizal Wafy, Manager of Grace Valley Education Institute, followed by felicitations from Muhammed Rishad, IQAC Coordinator. Certificates were distributed by MP Muhammed Faizal Wafy and the session concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Muhammed Fawaz O, 5th semester BCA student. The program wrapped up at 1:00 PM.

BUG HUNTING(24/10/24)
Workshop on Bug Hunting Organized by the Department of Computer Applications in association with Techbyheart on 24-10-2024(Thursday)
The Department of Computer Applications is excited to collaborate with the renowned Techbyheart team to offer a Bug Hunting Workshop exclusively for 2nd year BCA students. This hands-on workshop will dive deep into teaching students the skills and techniques needed to identify, analyze, and report vulnerabilities in software systems. Participants will gain valuable insights into ethical hacking, security testing, and the tools used by professionals in the bug hunting field.
2. WORKSHOP ON COMPUTER HARDWARE ASSEMBLING(14/02/25)
A hands-on workshop titled "From Parts to Power" was conducted for the 2nd-year BCA students on the 14th of February, 2025. Mrs. Seetha Lakshmi R, HoD of Department of Computer Applications began the session by bringing out the importance of this session and its benefits. Followed by Mr. Ubaid began the workshop by introducing the various components involved in a computer system, such as the motherboard, CPU, RAM, storage devices, power supply, and peripheral devices. He emphasized the importance of each part and its role in the overall functionality of the system. The workshop was conducted in batches to ensure individual attention and effective learning.
3. CYBER SECURITY AND ETHICAL HACKING(29/08/24)
The INNOVISTA club of Department of Computer Applications in association with Tec byheart conducted a session on Cyber Security and ethical hacking for the second-year students of BCA. The session was started with an introduction and welcoming the team by the HOD of the Department Mrs. Seetha Lakshmi R and followed by the session was handled by Mr. Abhinand R and supported by Mr. Shayam and Ubaid N. The session provided a wide knowledge about cyber security and hacking and the wide range of opportunities in this field. The complete program was recorded by our media wing of second year BCA Ms. Nafia and Mr. Fayis. The session was winded up with feedback from Mr. Sinan of second year BCA and vote of thanks by Ms. Varna K the club co-ordinator.
4. WORKSHOP ON IoT DEVELOPMENT AND PROJECT ORIENTATION

Department of Computer Applications conducted a two days hands-on workshop on IoT development and project orientation for final year BCA Students. The session was started with an introduction and welcoming the team by the HOD of the Department Mrs. Seetha Lakshmi R and followed by the session was handled by Mr. Gopikrishnan P G and supported by Mr. Vishnu and Ubaid N. The session provided Internet of Things (IoT) is revolutionizing industries by connecting devices, sensors, and applications to exchange and analyze data. As the demand for IoT solutions grows, it is essential for developers and project managers to have a strong understanding of IoT development and project orientation. This workshop aims to provide comprehensive insights into IoT development and equip participants with the necessary skills to successfully implement IoT projects.
4. Add-on courses and Importance of STED Certification

To discuss the role of add-on courses and the critical
importance of STED (Skill Training and Empowerment Development) certification in enhancing professional skills. The event commenced with prayer. The welcome address was delivered by varna k club coordinator of IT CLUB of grace valley college. who warmly greeted all attendees, including distinguished guests, faculty, and students. The speaker highlighted the importance of continuous learning and relevance of add-on courses in today’s fast-paced, The inauguration ceremony was marked by a formally by a few words from seethalakshmi R HOD of grace valley college. They expressed enthusiasm for the launch of new add-on courses aimed at equipping students with essential skills needed in the workforce. The significance of STED certification was underscored, indicating that it not only recognizes skills but also assures employers of candidates' capabilities and readiness for professional challenges.
5. WORKSHOP ON MS OFFICE USING AI(06/07/24 & 17/08/24)
The session was started with a welcome address by Varna k (Assistant Professor of BCA) by introducing the power of technology in shaping the way we work and collaborate. This session was mainly designed to introduce and to know more about Microsoft Office and Google Drive.The sessions were handled by Varna k (Assistant Professor of BCA) and Ubaid (Lab Assistant of BCA). The presenter introduced that MS Office and Google Drive are powerful productivity tools that offer users a range of features for document creation, data management, collaboration, and file storage. The integration of AI technology further enhanced their capabilities, providing users with intelligent assistance in document editing, grammar correction, and file organization.Teachers from various departments of the college participated in this program. It was a good workshop for most teachers who had little computer knowledge.
