1. Association innaugration REPORT

The Department of Commerce successfully organized its annual event, “COMSPHERE”, on 24th February 2025. The programme aimed to foster academic growth, leadership, and interaction among students while providing a platform for showcasing their skills and talents.Fawaz (B.Com Final Year) warmly welcomed the dignitaries, faculty members, and students, setting a positive tone for the day. Mohammed Rishad TP (HOD, Commerce Department) emphasized the importance of such events in nurturing student skills beyond academics. The event was officially inaugurated by Nizam VM (Founder, DESGRO International), who inspired the audience with his entrepreneurial journey and valuable insights. Dr. M Usman (Principal, Grace valley College) highlighted the college’s commitment to fostering holistic development among its students. Shibu John (HOD, Management Studies) applauded the initiative and encouraged students to actively participate in extracurricular activities. Ashna (Vice Chairperson, Students' Union) expressed gratitude towards the organizing team and shared words of motivation. Hanish Basil (B.Com Second Year) delivered the vote of thanks, acknowledging the contributions of all participants, guests, and the organizing committee.

The second session featured an engaging interaction between students and the chief guest, Nizam VM. He shared his entrepreneurial experiences, offered career advice, and addressed students’ queries, fostering an inspiring and educational dialogue. The final session included a series of exciting contests designed to test the skills, creativity, and teamwork of the participants. The contests witnessed active participation and spirited competition among students.

2. AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON PROFESSIONAL ETHICS

 The department of Commerce, Grace Valley College of Arts and Science has conducted an awareness programme on “ Professional Ethics “ to impart the moral principles and standards that guide behaviour in the field of professional life. The target audience was 2nd year B.com students. This programme was made to understand the students regarding complex situation  and decision making process. The event was took place on 27/6/2024, 10.30 am, at college conference hall and started with welcome speech delivered by  Ms.Shadha Fathima ( 2nd B.Com Finance ). Mr. Mohammed Nishad , Faculty Commerce department delivered the presidential address and the official inauguration was done by Mr.Mohammed Rishad. HOD the commerce department.

Ms.Vidya V G, faculty of Commerce department gave an introduction about ethics at professional and personal life. The felicitation was made by Mr.Shibu John (HOD, Dept of Management ) and Mr.Vasil ( HOD, Department of English ). The vote of thanks was delivered by Mr.Sabir ( 2nd B.Com CA )

The session was handled by Mr.ABDUL JALEEL E T., ( Faculty , Commerce Department ), imparted the importance of Professional ethics in the corporate world and how it play vital role in ensuring that professional act in a manner that is not only legally compliant but also morally sound. The students was made to understand the importance of maintaining public trust, and protecting the reputation of professions. The event received enormous positive feedback, with participants appreciated the initiative taken by the department.

 3. Business Quiz – Commerce day celebration

 On August 5, 2024, a quiz competition was organized as part of the Commerce Day celebrations at the seminar hall of Grace Valley College of Arts and Science. The event saw enthusiastic participation from students across different years of the B.Com program, making it a highly competitive and engaging affair. A total of three teams, each consisting of four students from the first, second, and third years of B.Com, competed against each other. The quiz was meticulously conducted by Mrs. Shahan Tasneem, a faculty member of the Commerce Department, who served as the quiz master. His well-structured and diverse set of questions added an educational edge to the event, with a total of 25 questions covering various topics relevant to commerce and general knowledge.

 The first-year finance team emerged victorious, securing the first prize with their quick and accurate responses. The third-year team put up a strong fight and secured the second position. The event was not only a showcase of knowledge but also a platform for students to develop teamwork, quick thinking, and subject expertise.The quiz program was well-received by both participants and the audience, contributing to the overall success of the Commerce Day celebrations

 

4. CA INSIGHTS

A session with a Chartered Accountant

 On August 16, 2024, at 11 a.m., the Commerce Department Alumni Association of Grace Valley College of Arts and Science organized a program titled "CA Insights" for the current BCom students. The event, held in the college conference hall, aimed to provide an orientation on the Chartered Accountancy (CA) course and its relevance to students pursuing a career in commerce.The program was introduced by Mr. Mohammed Rishad TP, the Head of the Department of Commerce. He welcomed the participants and highlighted the significance of pursuing a professional course like CA in enhancing career prospects. Following the introduction, the session was conducted by Mr. Siyad Kasim KV, a Chartered Accountant and an esteemed alumnus of Grace Valley College. Mr. Kasim shared his experiences and offered in-depth insights into the CA course structure, the challenges involved, and effective strategies to succeed in the rigorous exams. His session was highly informative and provided students with a clear understanding of what to expect from the CA pathway.

 The program also included a felicitation by Mr. Ansar, another distinguished alumnus of the college, who encouraged students to remain focused and determined in their academic pursuits. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Sabitha C, Assistant Professor in the Department of Commerce, who expressed her gratitude to the speakers and participants for making the event a success. 

5. CELEBRATING SUCCESS AND ACHIEVEMENT

 On August 16, 2024, at 9:30 AM, the Alumni Association of Grace Valley's Department of Commerce organized an event titled "Celebrating Success and Achievement." The program aimed to honour Mr. Siyad Kasim KV, a distinguished Chartered Accountant (CA) achiever and alumnus of the institution.The event commenced with a welcome speech by Abdul Rahman CV, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Commerce. Following this, the Presidential Address was delivered by Mohammed Rishad TP, the current President of the Alumni Association.The inauguration of the event was conducted by Mohammad Faisal Wafi, the Manager of Grace Valley Institution, who emphasized the importance of recognizing alumni achievements in inspiring current students. Dr. Ayoob CP, Principal of Grace Valley, addressed the gathering, highlighting the significance of perseverance and dedication in achieving success.Mushseena, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Management, extended her felicitations, praising Mr. Siyad Kasim's accomplishments. The Chief Guest, Mr. Siyad Kasim KV, then shared his journey and experiences, offering valuable insights and motivation to aspiring professionals.The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Sabitha C, the Department-level Alumni Association Coordinator and Assistant Professor in the Department of Commerce, expressing gratitude to all participants for their support and involvement.

6. BIZBRAIN-“World Entrepreneurship Day-celebration”

 

On the 21st of August, 2024, Confluencia and Nexus Club from the Department of Commerce and Management Studies organized a vibrant celebration for World Entrepreneurship Day. The event was held at [Add Venue Name], beginning promptly at 11:00 AM. The program was designed to inspire and encourage students to embrace entrepreneurship and innovation. The event commenced with a warm welcome speech delivered by Mr. Abdu Rahiman CV, Assistant Professor in the Department of Commerce. He extended a cordial welcome to all dignitaries, faculty members, students, and invited guests, highlighting the significance of entrepreneurship in today’s world.

Following the welcome speech, the Presidential Address was delivered by Mr. Mohammed Rishad TP, the IQAC Coordinator. The official inauguration of the event was conducted by Dr Ayoob CP, Principal of Grace Valley College. Dr Ayoob CP, in his inaugural address, spoke about the role of educational institutions in nurturing entrepreneurial talent and encouraged students to take bold steps in their entrepreneurial journeys. The highlight of the event was the keynote address by Mr. Anees Poovathi, the founder of AIFER Education. Mr. Poovathi shared his entrepreneurial journey, the challenges he faced, and the lessons he learned along the way. His motivational speech was well-received by the audience, inspiring many to consider entrepreneurship as a viable career option.

The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Fairuz, a second-year BBA student. Fairuz expressed gratitude to all the dignitaries, organizers, faculty members, and students for their presence and contribution to the success of the event. She also thanked the sponsors and partners for their support in making the celebration a memorable one. The "World Entrepreneurship Day" celebration was a great success, with active participation from students and faculty alike. The event provided a platform for knowledge sharing, inspiration, and networking, fostering a spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship among all attendees.

 7. FOUNDER FOCUS-Journey of an Entrepreneur

On 22nd August 2024, Confluencia, the Commerce Club of Grace Valley College, successfully organized an inspiring event titled FOUNDER FOCUS - Journey of an Entrepreneur. This event was designed to ignite the entrepreneurial spirit among students and provide them with a deeper understanding of what it takes to succeed in the business world. The program kicked off at 1:30 PM with a Welcome Speech by Febin, a third-year B. Com student. Following the welcome, Abdul Jaleel ET, the Commerce Club Coordinator, delivered the Presidential Address. He shared the vision and objectives of the club, emphasizing the importance of fostering entrepreneurship among students. He thanked everyone involved in organizing the event and encouraged students to actively participate and learn from the experiences shared.The Inauguration was conducted by Dr. Ayoob CP, the Principal of Grace Valley College. He commended the Commerce Club for their initiative in hosting such an impactful event and encouraged students to be bold in their entrepreneurial pursuits.

Mohammed Rishad TP, the IQAC Coordinator and Head of the Department of Commerce, graced the occasion with his Presence. The Felicitation was given by Shibu John, Head of the Department of Management. He praised the Commerce Club for their dedication to student development and highlighted the importance of events like these in preparing students for real-world challenges. The highlight of the day was the Keynote Address by Shafeeque OT, a young entrepreneur who has made a mark in his field. Shafeeque shared his entrepreneurial journey, discussing both the highs and lows he encountered along the way. His story was not only enlightening but also deeply inspiring, leaving a lasting impact on all those present. The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Rafeedha, a third-year B. Com student. She expressed her heartfelt gratitude to all the distinguished guests, faculty, and students who contributed to making the event a success. She also acknowledged the hard work of the organizing team and the support of the college management. Overall, FOUNDER FOCUS - Journey of an Entrepreneur was a significant event that enriched the students with knowledge and inspired them to consider entrepreneurship as a viable career path. The Commerce Club looks forward to hosting more such engaging events in the future.

 STOCK SAVVY

The share market awareness programme was organized commerce club  to educate partipants about the fundamental of stock market investmenting and financial planning .the event took place on 13/6/24 at college seminar hall and aimed to equip attendees with the knowledge and tools necessary to make informed investment decision. The events started with welcome speech delivered by Majidha fifth sem Bcom student. Mr Mohammed Rishad TP,HOD of commerce department delivered the presidential address.  The official inauguration  of this awareness  class  was done by Dr. Ayyoob Keyi,  Principal Grace Valley college. Mr abdurahman , faculty of commerce gave an introduction about stock market investment.  Felicitation was extended to Mr Shibu John,  HOD Department of Management ,and Mr VASIL , HOD of English.The vote of thanks was delivered by FEBIN (final year student)

The session handled by Mr SUMITH SUBRAMANIYAN ( SEBI certified trainer) and provied fundamental knowledge of about equity market. The equity market education initiative successfully achieved its objectives by enhancing financial literacy, empowering investors and promting active particiapation in the stock market. The initative received overwhelmingly positive feedback, with participants appreciating the practical insights and the accessibility of the educational resources provided.
