1. BIZORA- interdepartmental commerce fest

 The Department of Commerce organized BIZORA 2K26 – Business Aura, an inter-departmental commerce fest, on February 13, 2026, at Grace Valley College of Arts & Science, with the aim of enhancing students’ business knowledge, creativity, and communication skills. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across various departments and was successfully conducted with the support of sponsors Leem and Coffee Cream. The fest featured a variety of competitions designed to test different skills: Bizstorm (Business Quiz) challenged participants’ knowledge in business, economics, and current affairs through multiple rounds; Suite & Stride (Corporate Walk) showcased participants’ confidence, professional appearance, and presentation skills;

 Trial Blaze (Treasure Hunt) engaged teams in solving business-related clues, promoting teamwork and problem-solving abilities; Brand Buzz (Best Marketing Team) evaluated innovative marketing strategies and presentation skills of participants; Quick Talk (Spot Speech) tested spontaneity and public speaking abilities; Snapshot (Photography) encouraged creativity through visual storytelling; and Ad Zone (Ad Making Reel Contest) highlighted participants’ skills in digital content creation and advertising. Overall, the programme was a grand success, providing a vibrant platform for students to exhibit their talents, foster creativity, and develop essential business and interpersonal skills, while promoting healthy competition and teamwork among participants. BIZORA 2K26 was a grand success, providing a dynamic platform for students to explore their talents and develop essential business and communication skills.  2. HOW TO BAG YOUR JOB INTERVIEWS

 A career guidance session titled “How to Bag Your Job Interview” was conducted on 17 December 2025 at 10:00 a.m. in the Conference Hall, exclusively for final year Commerce students. The programme aimed to equip students with practical skills and confidence required to succeed in competitive job interviews.The session began with a warm welcome delivered by Mr. Shibu John, who highlighted the importance of interview preparedness and industry-oriented skills for commerce graduates entering the job market. The keynote session was handled by Mr. Shafeeq, SAP Consultant, who brought valuable industry insights and real-world experience to the discussion.Mr. Shafeeq explained various interview stages, common mistakes made by candidates, and effective strategies to present strengths confidently. Interactive discussions and examples from actual interview scenarios made the session engaging and informative.The programme was highly beneficial and well received by the students, who gained clarity, motivation, and confidence to face future job interviews successfully.

3.CAREER CRAFT

 The Department of Commerce, Grace Valley College of Arts and Science, organized a Career Craft session for final year B.Com CA and B.Com Finance students on 23rd September 2026 at 9.30 pm in the Smart Room. The session began with a warm introduction by Mr. Mohammed Nishad, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce. He highlighted the importance of career-oriented programs in shaping students’ professional futures.

The session was led by Mr. Abdul Jaleel, Managing Director of SMART, and Mr. Abdul Naseer, CEO of SMART, who delivered insightful presentations on career opportunities in commerce, professional skills, and industry readiness. They motivated students to enhance their knowledge and adaptability in a competitive job market. The interactive session concluded with a Question-and-Answer round, where students actively participated and clarified their doubts.The event received highly positive feedback from students, who appreciated the practical insights and guidance provided by the resource persons.

4. COMMERCE CAREER WORKSHOP-shaping the future

The Commerce Career Workshop was successfully organized by the Confluencia Club, Department of Commerce, at Grace Valley College of Arts and Science, Maravattam, Malappuram on 18th November 2025 at the Seminar Hall.The programme commenced at 2:30 PM with a warm welcome speech by Shatha Fathima, who greeted the dignitaries, resource person, and participants, and highlighted the importance of career guidance for commerce students.The Presidential Address was delivered by Hanish Basil (College Chairman), who emphasized the need for skill development and awareness of emerging opportunities in the commerce field.

The session was led by the Resource Person, Nidhin Vakayad (Director, Finzcom). He delivered an insightful and engaging talk on various career opportunities available for commerce students, including professional courses, skill-based careers, and industry expectations. His session motivated students to plan their careers strategically and encouraged them to develop practical skills alongside academic learning.They appreciated the initiative and the valuable knowledge shared during the workshop.The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Fathima Fidha (B.Com CA), who expressed gratitude to the management, resource person, faculty members, and students for their support and participation.The workshop was highly informative and beneficial, helping students gain clarity about their future career paths in the commerce field.

5.PRACTICAL WORKSHOP ON GST

 The Department of Commerce, Grace Valley College of Arts and Science, organized a Practical Workshop on GST on 13th November at 10:30 a.m. in the Conference Hall. The workshop was conducted in association with ICA Edu Skills Pvt. Ltd. under the support of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).The session was led by Mr. Vibin, a resource person from ICA Edu Skills, who delivered an insightful and interactive session on the practical aspects of Goods and Services Tax (GST). He explained various procedures related to GST registration, return filing, and compliance, emphasizing real-world accounting applications. The students actively participated, raising questions and engaging in hands-on learning experiences that enriched their understanding of modern taxation practices.The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Miss Fayiza, faculty member of the Commerce Department, who expressed gratitude to the resource person, faculty, and students for making the session a success. The workshop proved highly beneficial, enhancing students’ practical knowledge and career-oriented skills in taxation.

6.WORKSHOP ON PROJECT ORIENTATION

A workshop titled “Start Your Project with Confidence” was conducted for B.Com final year students on 03/12/2025 at 10:00 a.m. in the Conference Hall, Grace Valley College of Arts and Science. The programme was organized with the objective of helping students overcome confusion and anxiety related to their final year project work. The session was handled by Mr. Abdurahiman Karuthedath, Assistant Professor, Malabar College for Advanced Studies, Vengara, who has wide experience in academic research and project guidance. He began the workshop by explaining the significance of project work in commerce education and its relevance to higher studies and career development.

Mr. Abdurahiman discussed the process of selecting an appropriate project topic, identifying research problems, and setting clear objectives. He also explained the importance of proper planning, data collection methods, and maintaining academic integrity. Practical examples were used to make the session interactive and easy to understand. Students were encouraged to ask questions, and their doubts regarding topic selection, methodology, and report preparation were clarified effectively.The workshop was highly informative and motivating. It boosted the confidence of students and provided them with a clear roadmap to begin their project work successfully. The session concluded with a vote of thanks, and the participants expressed positive feedback about the usefulness of the programme.
