Reclaiming Lives: A Journey of Healing from Trauma and Addiction
Wadi Rahma: The Department of Psychology organized a significant event on June 27, 2023, commemorating PTSD Day and Drug Abuse Day. The program, titled "Reclaiming Lives: A Journey of Healing from Trauma and Addiction," aimed to raise awareness and promote understanding of these critical issues. Dr. Jasim Munawar, the college principal, inaugurated the event, with Mr. Althaf, the department head, extending a warm welcome. Mr. Safwan from the Physical Department and Mrs. Karthika, a faculty member, were also present. In conjunction with the World Mental Health Awareness Program, the Department of Psychology orchestrated a meaningful children's home visit to Shanthi Bhavan on 08/10/2023. The visit aimed to extend support and create awareness about mental well-being among the young residents. Head of the Department, Mr. Althaf, along with faculty members Mrs. Karthika and Mrs. Misna, led the visit, fostering a compassionate connection with the children at Shanthi Bhavan. Clinical Visit to Louis Mount Hospital
The Department of Psychology orchestrated a valuable clinical visit to Louis Mount Hospital in Wayanad, providing students with a firsthand experience in the field. Head of the Department, Mr. Althaf P, along with faculty members Misna and Karthika, led the visit, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of clinical psychology practices. The hospital, renowned for its clinical expertise, hosted prominent clinical psychologists, Dr. Linjo and Anwin. They graciously shared their insights and experiences with the students, enriching their knowledge in the domain of clinical psychology. Day One: Club Inauguration and Mental Health Awareness
The Department of Psychology initiated the Emosense week on December 4th, 2023, with a focus on mental health awareness and community engagement. The day commenced with the inauguration of the CALM (Club for Analysis and Learn about Mental Health) club from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm. The ceremony, graced by the eminent clinical psychologist Mr. Fathima Rinsi, saw the presence of Principal Dr. Ayoob Keyi as the chairperson. Mr. Althaf, the Head of the Department, delivered a welcome speech emphasizing the importance of mental well-being in academic and personal growth.Read more
Day Two: Cinematic Exploration of Psychological Themes
The Emosense week concluded on December 5th, 2023, with a focus on community engagement and social responsibility. As part of the Social Extension Program, students actively contributed to the betterment of the community by conducting a working memory inventory near MKHLP School, Marakkara. Programme led by faculty member Mrs Karthika and selected members from final year students. This initiative highlighted the college's commitment to making a positive impact beyond its walls, promoting social awareness and responsibility among students.Read more
Days Three and Four: Interactive Learning at the Psychological Exhibition
On December 6th and 7th, 2023, the college premises were transformed into a hub of learning and exploration with the Psychological Exhibition. The exhibition, held over two full days, provided an interactive learning experience for students from all departments. Divided into two halls, visitors explored various aspects of psychology, including criminal behaviour and parapsychology. Day Five: Social Extension Program and Community Engagement
December 5th, 2023, marked a cinematic exploration of psychological themes during the Emosense Film Festival. More than 90 students from various departments gathered to watch the movie "Split," followed by a stimulating discussion led by Shanith and Nandana. The film festival provided attendees with valuable insights into complex human emotions and behaviours, fostering a deeper understanding of psychological concepts.Read more
