About Course

The Physics department is usually a part of an educational institution and it performs many important functions related to the study of physics. The Department of Physics plays an important role in education, research, and dissemination of knowledge in the field of Physics. It also contributes to scientific and technological advancements that impact various aspects of our lives.

The department offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Physics. The department has seven teaching staff, two lab attendants and two well-equipped laboratories with all facilities for post-graduate and graduate students. We have Memorandum of Understandings and collaborations with other academic institutions that help students get better exposure to advanced laboratory techniques and equipment. Every year students undergo internships in reputable institutes and get trained in various processes and technologies. Physics departments play a critical role in advancing our understanding of the natural world, leading to technological advances and innovations that benefit society.

Eligibility

Candidates who have passed (eligible for Higher Studies) the HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognised as equivalent there to with science subjects are eligible for admission.

PSO1: Understand the basic concepts of fundamentals of mechanics, properties of Matter and electrodynamics.

PSO2: Understand the theoretical basis of quantum mechanics, relativistic physics, Nuclear physics, optics, spectroscopy, solid state physics, astrophysics,statistical Physics, photonics and thermodynamics

PSO3: Understand and apply the concepts of electronics in the designing of different Analog and digital circuits

Program objectives

The BSc in Physics program is designed to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of fundamental principles in classical mechanics,electromagnetism, thermodynamics, and quantum mechanics. Through rigorous coursework, students develop strong mathematical proficiency, including skills in calculus, differential equations, and linear algebra, enabling them to analyze and solve complex physical problems. Emphasis is placed on hands-onexperience with experimental techniques, fostering the ability to design and conduct experiments while refining laboratory skills. The curriculum also explores modern physics concepts such as relativity, quantum mechanics, and particle physics, ensuring students are wellversed in current advancements.
