INVITED TALK ON NOBEL PRIZE 2023
On October 21, 2:00 PM, a group of students and three teachers embarked on an enlightening industrial visit to Calicut University's Aryabatta Hall. The event, an invited talk, centered around the captivating topic, "Nobel Prize 2023 Experiments with Light Capture the Shortest of Moments," delivered by esteemed speaker Dr. Riju C Issac, Associate Professor in the Department of Physics at CUSAT. The inauguration, graced by Prof. MK Jayaraj, Vice Chancellor of the University of Calicut, set the tone for an intellectually stimulating session. Dr. Isaac’s discourse delved into groundbreaking experiments with light, unraveling the mysteries of capturing the shortest of moments, a theme aligned with the Nobel Prize 2023.The engaging talk fostered an atmosphere of curiosity, prompting students and PG scholars to actively participate and gain valuable insights into cutting-edge research. PHYSICS CLUB LOGO REVEAL 2023
The physics club logo reveal event took place on the morning of November 2nd , 2023 and it was a joyous occasion for both students and teachers. The logo was unveiled in a unique and engaging manner through a puzzle game.Students from both the physics department and other departments participated in the puzzle game. The atmosphere was filled with excitement as participants collaborated to solve the puzzles. The final piece of the puzzle was placed by Dr.Ayoob keyi ,the esteemed principal of the college. As the last puzzle piece was put in place,the physics logo was revealed.This moment was met with cheers and applause from the attendees. The event was a resounding success,and both students and teachers expressed their delight. The head of the physics department, Mr.Khaleel, revealed the framed logo to principal Dr.Ayoob keyi as a symbol of the club’s appreciation. The principal Dr.Ayoob keyi took a moment to offer his well wishes to the physics club, emphasizing the importance of such academic club’s in fostering learning and camaraderie.Read more
PAPER PRESENTATION OF STUDENTS ON THE TOPIC “NOBEL PRIZE IN PHYSICS 2023”
The paper presentation on the Nobel Prize of Physics in 2023 was held on January 15 2023, at conference hall of Grace Valley College. The event aimed to discuss and analyze the basic discoveries and achievements honored by the Nobel Prize in Physics for the year 2023. The principle inaugurated the interactive section of the presentation, encouraging active participation and insightful discussions among the attendees. The paper presentation commenced with an opening address by Ms.Basila and followed by Ms.Shilpa. The presentation helps to understand the importance of recognizing and celebrating scientific advancements that contribute to our understanding of the universe and the development of innovative technologies.Read more
CLUB INAUGURATION
Physics department proudly inaugurated the club ‘Potencia’ on 15th January 2024. The club was inaugurated with enthusiasm. The ceremony commenced with a warm welcome speech delivered by Ms. Sruthi. The inauguration itself was an honor, with principal Dr Ayoob Keyi doing his honors, symbolizing the official beginning of club’s journey. Following Head of the Physics Department Mr. Khaleel presented a compelling presidential address, sharing insights and aspirations for the club’s future. Distinguished guests were acknowledged during felicitation, with Mr. Sreejith (HOD of Chemistry), Mr. Rishad (HOD of Commerce) and Mr. Adhith (Assistant Professor in Physics), being recognized for their valuable contributions to academia. A highlight of the event was a captivating presentation on the Nobel prize in Physics 2023” Experimental methods that generate attosecond pulses of light for the study of electron dynamics in matter.” Presentation was offered by Dr Muzammil NM, Assistant Professor, School of Physical Science, University of Calicut. It offered an engaging and simplified understanding of the topic. His efforts were appreciated, and a token of gratitude was presented to Dr Muzammil for his outstanding presentation. Read more
PHYSICS DEPARTMENT ASSOCIATION INAUGURATION 2023-24
The Association Inauguration of the PG Department of Physics held on 21st February 2024, was a delightful blend of academic discourse, creativity, and culinary delights. The event was marked by several distinguished segments, all contributing to a memorable and enriching experience for everyone present.The day commenced with the eagerly awaited name revealing of the association, a momentous occasion presided over by Dr. CP Ayoob, the esteemed Principal of the college. With great anticipation Dr.CP Ayoob Sir unveiled the name “ZEPTO” chosen to symbolize the infinitesimal scale of scientific exploration, representing “one sextillionth.” The name encapsulated the department’s dedication to delving into the smallest particles of the universe in pursuit of knowledge.Read more
Talk On : Gravity – The Mapping Of Universe And Skywatch As The Part Of Day – Night Conference on Physics
The Department Of Physics of Gracevalley College Of Arts & Science , Maravattam organized a talk on “Gravity The Mapping of Universe” and skywatch on 15th January, 2024. The prime motive behind conducting such a program is to generate enthusiasm in students to explore the areas of astronomy and astrophysics. The program started with a welcome speech delivered by Mr K M Khaleel, HOD Physics. The honered Resource person, Mr Manoj Kottakkal, then gave an insightful lecture on the evolution of science and gravity, the history of astronomy and how gravity is used as a probe to map the universe from its origin. The skywatch was started at 10:pm by observing the Moon and Jupiter. The discussions were extended to The Planes of solar system, some prominent constellations, the star Cirius etc.. This program was attended by UG, PG students of Physics, and Faculties of Department.Read more
FISICA FEST- PHYSICS EXPO
The Fisica Fest - Physics Expo organized by the Potentia Physics Club at Grace Valley College on January23-24, 2024, emerged as a stellar showcase of scientific curiosity, innovation, and knowledge. The event drew significant attention from nearby highschool students, as well as the college community. The principal inaugurated the Physics Expo, commending the Potentia Physics Club for their initiative in promoting scientific awareness. The event featured an array of stalls, each presenting diverse aspects of physics through interactive exhibits, experiments, and demonstrations.Students and visitors eagerly explored the stalls, marveling at the ingenuity and creativity displayed by the Potentia Physics Club. GSFK EXPO VISIT
On 10th February, under the auspices of the Physics Department’s Club Potentia, a group comprising postgraduate and degree students, alongside 7 teachers, visited the grand GSFk Expo in Thonnakkal, Thiruvananthapuram. Originally scheduled for the 9th, the visit aimed to immerse the attendees in a broad spectrum of scientific exhibits and advancements. The expo, notable for its vast array of stalls organized alphabetically, offered a rich educational experience. Highlights included the ISRO stall, which provided insights into space research and exploration, and a human organs display that delved into detailed anatomical education, proving highly informative for students from medical and biological sciences.
